“The lame will take the plunder.” It’s the injured, who in desperation, break into the heart of God and plunder His beauty and affections.
Job 5:18, “For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.”
Isaiah 30:26, “The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven full days, when the LORD binds up the bruises of his people and heals the wounds he inflicted.”
Sometimes the Lord, in love, wounds us so that, wounded, we come to Him for healing. This is a mystery to me, but I know that the one who allows me to be wounded has nothing to prove to me concerning His love for me, for He lives with open wounds from which a river of delight flows toward me.
Wounded hearts live in a season of harvesting the pleasure and promises of God. There is no richer time than the “wounded season.” God becomes so appealing to us in those days and, in our quest for air to breathe, He becomes our very oxygen that sustains us and thus becomes the very environment we live in. We press in harder and His heartbeat grows louder in our ears.
The beauty of the Lord is all those remarkable things about Himself that He reveals to us; His character, personality, promises, affections, and ways. The lame seem to penetrate the deepest places and find themselves exploring the beauty of God from the inside out. Isaiah says, that in those days of plundering the splendor of God, even the darkest night will shine like the day.
All you wounded and lame, it’s time to assault and plunder the infinite treasures of the heart of God. You’ll find Him waiting for you.
