Luke 22:21 “But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.
Luke 22:22 “For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”
John 19:11 Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
John 19:28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished….
Jesus makes it very clear in these verses that His life was not in the hands of Judas, or the Jews, or the Romans, but that His life and future was in the hands of His Father. Things had been determined for His life by another, whom He totally trusted, and was totally surrendered to. He said that all things were accomplished. He was no victim. When you accomplish “all things” you are a victor, not a victim. What Jesus went through in His humanity was horrific, but He knew, and had settled His surrender in the garden, that He was living in the midst of heavenly destiny and purpose, therefore there would be a glorious ending when the story was fully written.
Sometimes all of us go through painful things that make us feel like victims of circumstances, or other people choices, or even evil intentions. During those times it so important that we, with surrendered trust, remember that we too are living under the sovereign care of One who is ordering our steps. He has proven His love for us, and He knows exactly what He is doing. There are things He wants to ACCOMPLISH through this situation, both in us and around us, even though we might not see it clearly yet.
Our trusting attitude should be,”Lord, I know that You are in control here, and that You are good. Accomplish everything You desire to accomplish both in me and around me through this situation. I live for Your glory, and Your pleasure, and I know when it’s all done, your glorious purposes will come forth. Thank You Lord, I love You so.”
