“Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.” (2 Corinthians 1:22-23)
Notice that this verse in second Corinthians Chapter 1 says that we have been anointed. It doesn’t say that we could be anointed, or shall be anointed, instead it says, we have been anointed. That’s past tense.
This verse is very important, because it tells that us in our search for the anointing that the Lord has already done something for us. People long for the anointing, and I understand what that is all about. In my own life I’ve spent many many hours fasting, and crying out to the Lord for the anointing to be on my life. What I’m actually crying out for, is to experience the anointing that I already have in me because of the gift of God. This makes a big difference to me, because it’s much easier to believe for something you already have than to cry out for something you hope to get.
It’s important that you understand what I’m trying to say. Colossians chapter 2 verse 10 says that we have been made complete in Christ. Second Peter chapter 1 says that we have been given everything that pertains to life and godliness. The word complete means complete, and word everything means everything. Then, of course, we have already been anointed if you are complete and have everything in Christ. Ephesians chapter 1 verse three says that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. The anointing is certainly a spiritual blessing, and therefore one of those things we already have in Christ.
This should bring great joy to your life. Instead of pleading for something, God wants us to step out and appropriate what we already have.
Have a great day and Christ.
