2Cor. 12:9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
Our last devotional was from this scripture concerning God’s present tense sufficient grace. We are called to live supernaturally, by the grace and power of God. Any lost person can live life facing situations by simply trying harder, but we are called to live by the gift of the power of a risen Christ. Christ said His yoke was easy and His burden was light. I can promise you that whatever your burden is, it is nothing compared to the one He carried, not as God, but as an emptied Spirit-Filled man. He lived by the power of His Father that was released in and through Him by the Holy Spirit.
God wants you and me to live, by His power, supernatural lives and He teaches us to do that by allowing us to be put into situations that make us feel weak, incapable, and inadequate. This is His training manual for supernatural living. Don’t be surprised that you find yourself being in a place where you feel overwhelmed and completely outmatched, for God is just using it to propel you into the realm of overshadowing grace and power. He doesn’t want us to live like the lost. He wants there to be something so trans-rational about us that it gets the world’s attention. Any lost person can face life with anxiety, fear, discouragement, and despair, but we are called to live as Overcomers, not by will power but by God’s power, and He makes us feel weak to teach us how.
