Is. 6:13 “Yet there will be a tenth portion in it,
And it will again be subject to burning,
Like a terebinth or an oak
Whose stump remains when it is felled.
The holy seed is its stump.”

Well, we are progressing through Lent, this amazing lovesick season that leads to the Cross on the way to new resurrection. The language of Lent is desperate love. It’s a time of joyful mourning and wistful longing for more. It’s joyful because we have experienced Him and thus, long to be TAKEN by Him so that we might experience more. We celebrate the knowing and yet mourn for the knowing more.

In Lent we ask the God, who can can only be defined as One who “so loves” and is called a consuming fire, to consume more of us, revealing and burning away with His jealous love anything that hinders love in us. It’s the season of Divine romance when our capacity to fall in love with Him, to Burn for Him, is enlarged extravagantly.

May we, during these weeks of Lent, heighten our glorious anguish for His love to destroy all rivals in our lives, even if all that’s left is just a holy stump that is subject to Burning.
