Romans 15:13 (NASB)
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
This scripture says God is a God of hope not a God of despair, or discouragement, or pessimism, or complaining. If you are in discouragement, or any of that other kind of stuff, then you know it’s not of God. Many people have this image of God as a stern, perfectionist, who with broken heart, angrily gazes on the darkness of Man’s sin. The truth is, He is filled with hope. Doesn’t that change your understanding of who He is?
When you come to Him with your questions, His answers will be filled with hope. When you come to Him with pain and problems, you’ll find hope in His presence. And when you come to Him with your failure and sin, even if you encounter His correction and discipline, you will, even there, find Him to be a source of hope. It’s just who He is.
If you say that a person is a person of integrity then you expect integrity to be part of their character in everything they do and say. To say that God is a God of HOPE, is to expect HOPE to characterize everything He says and does. Look at the Fall in the Garden; when God came to them they were hiding, full of fear, guilt, shame, self rejection, and the fear of rejection. God confronted them, declared the consequences of their sin, and then spoke HOPE into their situation. That’s what He left them with; HOPE. It’s just His character and personality.
Have a great day In Christ “rejoicing in hope.”
