(Ps.16:11) You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
This has always been an important scripture for me, and one I come back to over and over again. It’s been one of those kind of guide post words. I find a lot of hope in, and direction in, the fact that there is a place where Fullness of Joy can be experienced regardless of what might be going on around me.
We live in a fallen world filled with fallen people, therefore the chance of being hurt or disappointed is always a reality that we have to deal with. It’s so awesome to know that there is a hiding place we can abide in, that though not able to protect us from the uncertainty of this world, does offer the joy and the pleasure of His Presence that transcends everything else.
Paul talked about, in 2 Corinthians 6, that even when he experienced sorrow, there was always joy. There can be only one explanation for that; the realized presence of Jesus. As believers we are In Christ. Whatever else that means, and it means a lot, it at least means that He is so near that His presence in relationship to us can only be defined by words like being IN HIM.
In light of Psalm 16, the One Thing priority of our lives should be to cultivate His Presence. Of course that brings us back to Psalm 27:4-5, the scriptures that this devotional is named after.
You might be asking a very practical question; “How do I cultivate His presence so that, I can live in a continual consciousness of Him?” My answer may seem too simple but, just do what you know how to do. I promise you that He loves you so much that He will meet you in your seeking whatever it looks like. He will reveal Himself and show you your own unique path into the secret place of His presence and glory. Fullness of joy and the transformational pleasures of His presence awaits you.
Have a great day In Christ.
