1Kings 6:7 ¶ The house, while it was being built, was built of stone prepared at the quarry, and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any iron tool heard in the house while it was being built.
2Tim 2:20, “ Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.”
S.S. 8:12 “My very own vineyard is at my disposal;”
The word “prepared” in 1 Kings 6:7 is translated “made ready” in the King James Version. This the same Hebrew word “complete” that we looked at yesterday from 2 Chronicles 16:9. A heart that is completely His therefore, is a heart that is a state of preparedness. It is prepared to be used by the Master. His part is to use us in power. Our part is to be made ready; to be useful. If you look T the passage in 2 Tim. you’ll notice to be prepared the idea of cleansing ourselves as a part of being prepared. You see, God can use the broken in unlimited ways, but not the unclean. Those who claim an act of surrender, while yet refusing to own their sin, and the cleansing that confession brings, are offering to God something that He can’t use.
Of course, as we live surrendered lives, being supernaturally used by God, there will often be new things to confess and be cleansed of, as The Holy Spirit reveals them, but true surrender always involves transparent confession of our sins, and the cleansing that the blood of Jesus brings. In our fallenness we have to want to be set free from our junk. He’s not afraid of our mess; He just wants to free us of it. It is only then that we can offer our broken sinful selves to Him, knowing in offering Him our all, His strength will be made perfect in our weaknesses.
