1 Pet. 5:7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
Did you know that God’s desire for us is to live an anxiety-free life. I know that is hard to imagine, but that is His desire for us. There are two words in this verse that I want us to pay close attention to. The first word is “casting.” Not only does it mean to put the things you are anxious about on Him, but it is one of those “aorist” tense verbs that carries the idea of doing something “completely.” He wants us to let go completely of those those worries we deal with. No half way commitment from us, but a wholehearted risk of faith. The reason we can do that with confidence is the next word I want us to see; which the word “cares.” The verse says, “because He CARES for you.” That word has a duel meaning. For one it means because He has such affection you, your anxieties “matter” to Him, and secondly, He has taken it upon Himself to “take care” of your issues. You are under His “care,” and He is therefore taking care of it all. Here is one of those fascinating hidden gems found in the Word of God, and that is that “cares” is not written in the aorist tense, but is written in the “present” tense, which means that He is right now, in the present, taking care of things, even if you can’t see it yet. Yes we celebrate His presence, but I also thank Him for His PRESENTNESS. It means that I’m no longer believing that He can and hoping that He does. Instead I’m trusting that HE IS at this very moment, handling the anxieties I have cast on Him.
