One Thing 7/14/16

Ps.18:11 He made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

97:1-2, The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; Let the many islands be glad. Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

Isaiah 45:3 “I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.

Sometimes God makes darknesses His hiding place, and sometimes that darkness is very thick. During those times there are a couple of things that are important to remember. One, according to the Psalm 97 passage, God is still reigning, and in control of your life. Secondly, it’s all about cultivating His presence at higher levels. Corrie Ten Boom once said, “He hides us under the shadow of his wings, therefore sometimes the darkness is because His presence is so near.” The Isaiah 45 passage says there are treasures of darkness and hidden wealth of secret places. The very next line in that Isaiah 45:3 passage says, “In order that you may know that it is I,…, who calls you by name.” In other words, that we might know and experience Him. It is the wealth of His presence that He wants us to cultivate in the dark places. You see, I believe there are treasures of His presence hidden away just for you that He wants to disclose to you as you walk through the dark places. They are secret places of layers of His presence that have been kept for you alone to discover. What you will realize as you walk out of the dark places that we sometimes experience in this fallen world, is that the only thing that really matters, the only thing that’s really real is His presence, not answers.
