Psalm 16 says that in His presence is fullness of joy, and that at His right hand there are pleasures forever more. Those who Make His presence the priority of their lives live in the rhythm of exhilaration. Those in pursuit never deal with boredom. Boredom is such a plague in our culture. There has never been such a time in history when people have to be entertained like this generation. People are so terrified of being bored that constant products are being rolled out to keep us occupied. The attention span of people has become so short because we are used to sounds, sights, and games coming at us in rapid fashion. We have tried to fill our God given desire for fascination with things other than the God who created that need in us, so He could meet it. Something I learned a long time ago is that boredom can’t be fixed permanently through external stimulation and entertainment; instead, boredom is only cured in His presence. Boredom, I learned therefore, is simply a refusal to enjoy His presence. To behold, and to be adorned with His beauty is the most deeply fascinating, intoxicating, and satisfying reality you will ever experience.
