Rom.8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
We all share a common destiny as Christians; to be like Jesus. What does it mean to be Christlike? Most of the time, in evangelical circles, to be Christlike means to be holy, or to manifest Christlike character in your daily life. That is certainly an important part, and probably the foundational manifestation of Christlikeness, but there is more to Christlikeness than just victory over the power of sin in your life. It certainly has to start there, and every other aspect of Christlikeness must flow out of that victory, but there is gloriously more to Christlikeness according to Scripture. To be like Jesus is more than just knowing the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit in setting you free from sin’s dominance; it is also experiencing the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit being released through you in laid down love, and signs and wonders. Unfortunately, Charismatics have a tendency to teach the power gifts as some kind of addition that gets attached to us through a subsequent experience. The reality is though, that experiencing the victory of Christ over the power of sin in you ,and ministering the victory of Christ over the works of the devil through you, are all part of the same package which is called Christlikeness. Jesus is the only one who can live the Christian life victoriously in supernatural holiness, and supernatural ministry. Both are simply the life that He lives. We were all born again complete in Christ. Complete means complete! All that you need to be all that He was, and to do all that did is already yours in Christ. This is not we’re headed, this is where we start. We’re not trying by struggle, to get there; we’re living by faith, from “there.”
