Mark 5:36 But Jesus, not heeding the word spoken, saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe.
Heb. 11:1 ¶ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
The first emotion after the fall was fear. We were created to live by faith in utter and absolute dependence in the One who created us to need Him. Fear is the antithesis of faith and it keeps us from living in the real world where God reigns, and drives us into the shadows. Faith is substance, not fear. Fear is based on the passing shadows of this fallen, temporary world, but faith sees God and His sovereign rule as the great reality that created, and in the end governs all creation, and the created. Satan is always tempting us to focus on the created as our hope, and thus the winds of changing circumstances toss us to and fro. In Him there is no variance or shadow of turning, and therefore if we are walking in faith then neither will we live in the anxiety of shadows, and turnings. You don’t have to understand everything that’s going on around you to be at peace, you simply have to know and trust the One Who knows it all, and sits on a throne high and lifted up, declaring what must take place.
