Song 2:3 “Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest,
So is my beloved among the young men.
In his shade I took great delight and sat down,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
Song 2:4 “He has brought me to his banquet hall,
And his banner over me is love.
Psa. 104:15 wine that gladdens the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine,
and bread that sustains his heart.
The words, “banquet hall,” in Hebrew is literally “house of wine.” In a large palace, or estate there was normally a large room that held banquets, where guests feasted, and were served the best wine. This was a place of special occasion celebrations and was referred to as the “house of wine.” As I’ve mentioned, Jesus Himself is our banquet. He is our “house of wine.” Jesus in us, and with us, is the new wine, and the source of our “heart gladness.” Living daily under His banner of love; experiencing His presence as our very life, is fresh wine that intoxicates our hearts, and brings gladness to every activity. Continuously infected by His lovesick heart, as He lives the life He lives in us, and through us, is our daily participation of the Heavenly banquet.
Jn.15:11, “These things I have spoken to you, (about abiding in Christ, and Christ abiding in us) that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.”
The new wine; the source of our joy, is not what He can do for us, but is who He is to us, and in us. It doesn’t say He is to us a glass of wine; instead it says He is to us a HOUSE (an endless source, of joy, and heart gladness) of wine. Everyday we awake, no matter the battle, He is our endless banqueting table, our House of Wine, our source of “joy unspeakable, full of glory.” He longs for us to drink deeply, and feast on Him.
