After these things, I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I heard, like the sound of the trumpet speaking with me, saying “Come up here…”
I have been contemplating these words from Rev. 4:1 for sometime now, and its message blows me away. Our God is God of relationship, and He longs to fellowship with us. There is a door open to us to be in His presence and hear His voice. Not only is there a door open, it is standing open. You and I are always welcome into His presence, no matter what condition we are in. Actually, we are called to come boldly before Him. That doesn’t mean arrogantly, it just means we are to come confident in His love and acceptance. God doesn’t endure our presence; He welcomes us. He longs for us to accept His invitation. His voice is like a trumpet, passionately, and enthusiastically encouraging us to come before Him. Song of Solomon 2:14 says, “O my dove, in the cleft of the rock, In the secret place of the steep pathway let Me see your appearance, let Me hear your voice: for your voice is sweet, and your appearance is lovely.” Amazing!!! My voice is sweet to Him. That word “sweet” means “pleasure.” Just think, the sound of your voice brings Him pleasure, and the very sight of you is lovely to Him. His love is so irresistible.
