Ephesians 2:10 NASB95
For we are His workmanship (poem), created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. We are God’s poem written in the very life of Jesus. God is the greatest poet of all, and His greatest poem of all is you in union with Christ. God’s original masterpiece was the creation of humanity. Beings created to live in union/fellowship with God, participating in and enjoying all that God is and all that God has. We were created to contain Him and reveal His likeness as our destiny. In the garden, through mankind’s sin, God’s dream, and our destiny were marred, but in the incarnate Christ’s life, death, resurrection, and ascension, God’s greatest masterpiece of all has been and is being written. We were lost, but not only have we been found by Christ, we have been found and reborn in Christ. Our new creation being daily worked out in union with Jesus is God’s stroke of poetic genius. Every day, as you abide in Christ, new stanzas in perfect prose are being written. On the pages of our life stories being played out in relationships and circumstances, the great poem of our transformation into Christ–likeness from glory to glory is being penned. In every fresh act of childlike surrender to His life within in the context of our daily living, the poem of our new creation and life more abundant in Christ is being revealed to a lost and dying world that longs for the existence of a beautiful poem. When you live “from” Christ, every minute of your day feels like a glorious rhyme as your heart makes melodies to the Lord in praise and thanksgiving. This is what it means to be “saved,” not just saved from something bad, but saved unto something glorious and beautiful.
