What is the gospel? It is our inclusion into the life that Jesus lives in the favor that He lives under.
That is a huge statement concerning the favor of God on our lives. Maybe when you hear that, your first thought is that you haven’t earned that place yet or deserve the place of favor on that level. The truth is, we are not given favor because of who we are. We are given favor because of who He is, we are in. Therefore being in Him we get the participate the relationship he has with the Father and the Holy Spirit. All the favor that is on Jesus is also on us because we are in Him. It is not because of our performance before God but the because of our position in Christ before God. Hear these words again from Ephesians 1:3; “We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” That does not say that we will get more favor because we go to the next conference and someone lays hands on us. (I am all for going to conferences and getting hands laid on us, but when we do, we are not getting more favor. Impartation is when the favor that is already in us and on our lives is stirred up by someone who is simply appropriating more of the ALL than we are in any particular area of blessing.) That verse tells us we have (past tense) been blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing for one reason and one reason only; we are in Christ. It is time we stopped begging God for favor, and started believing Him for the favor that’s ours already in Christ. How much favor is on Jesus? Well, all of that favor is yours and mine because we participate in Jesus’s relationship with the Father, and therefore we get what the Father gives Him. It’s not about who we are; it’s about who we are in Christ, and who He is in the eyes of the Father and the Holy Spirit.
