Song 1:15 ¶ “How beautiful you are, my darling,
How beautiful you are!
Your eyes are like doves.”
Religion always begins by demanding, but Jesus always begins by bestowing. Religion says that we have to earn God’s delight, Jesus says that we have to simply receive that place before God, that He has attained for us. Again, religion says that we have to work to attain a position of beauty before the Lord, but the Holy Spirit wants us to simply rest in the fact that He has bestowed to us the reality of being Most Beautiful to Him. It is our gift from Him, that we only have to believe and walk in. Because of what Christ has attained for us we don’t have to work for favor, we already stand in favor, and work from that position. This is how the whole Christian life works. 2 Peter 1:3, says, that He has already granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness. If that is true, then He has already bestowed on us, in Him, everything we will ever need to live godly, in this life. Lk.1 says, that we serve Him in holiness. We don’t serve to attain holiness; we serve having obtained what He has attained for us. We serve Him having holiness in order to serve Him in holiness. Of course, our position of having ALL in Christ, is not always our condition and consciousness. This is where faith comes into play, for Christ is to us practically, only what He has become to us personally, and only what we discover about all He is to us personally, are we able to appropriate by faith experientially.
