Even though I have written about prayer, and its impact on the heart of God lately, bear with me if I once again contemplate with you in this month of Elul, the Psalm 27 month, the wonders of His great love for us. To ponder the idea that the sound of my weak, small voice so stirs Him; that once glance from me inHis direction so ruins Him, just wrecks me. As you know, Human history will consummate with a wedding, and the extravagant acts of our Bridegroom God in His pursuit of us, and thus His extraordinary delight in our presence, and just the sound of our voice, is just mind and heart-blowing. I know what happens to me when I behold His beauty, but to think that something happens to Him in that secret place, as He beholds my beauty, and takes in my voice, is so devastating that my heart gets harvested for Him again and again. How can He find someone so sinful and scarred beautiful? How can He find this betrayers voice sweet? Why does He want to share His life with one like me in time and eternity, not just out of mercy, but with delighted, burning, jealous zeal in His heart? Zephaniah says that He sings, and dances over you with shouts of joy. Zeph. 3:17 ¶ The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save. ¶ He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.”
The word ‘delight’ can be translated ‘dance.’ To be loved like that; to be enjoyed like that evokes one response from me. It makes me want to waste my day, my life, my all on Him, in absolute surrender, and adoration. Truly we love because He first loved us.
