John 14:10 “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
John 14:11 “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
John 14:20 “In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
These verses speak about Spiritual Union. In verses 10 and 11 Jesus describes His relationship as the Son of Man with His Father by saying He was in The Father, and Father was in Him. Even though God very God, Philippians 2 tells us that Jesus laid down Hs right to act independently as God, and instead, as the second Adam, lived as a Spirit filled man totally dependent on the life of The Father who by The Holy Spirit lived in Him. He and the Father were in union with each other, and the only explanation for all that He did was The Father doing the works through Him. Notice verse 20 where Jesus says “In that day,” (the day of Pentecost, when the Spirit came to live in them) the Disciples would be In Union with Him, just as He was In Union with The Father. Because He was in The Father, The Father was in Him, and thus since we are in Christ, Christ is in us. Look at verse 21 of John 20, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” In light if the fact that we are in Christ just as He was in the Father, if we are prepared to be as available to Him as He was prepared to be available to The Father, then He is prepared to be as available to us, in all that we do, as The Father was prepared to be available to Him in all that He did. To be a true witness of Christ is to so rest in our Union with Him that the only explanation for all that we do is Christ Himself doing the works through us.
