Song of Songs 6:8-10 NASB
[8] “There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, And maidens without number; [9] But my dove, my perfect one, is unique: She is her mother’s only daughter; She is the pure child of the one who bore her. The maidens saw her and called her blessed, The queens and the concubines also, and they praised her, saying, [10] ‘Who is this that grows like the dawn, As beautiful as the full moon, As pure as the sun, As awesome as an army with banners?’ …
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be “just another one of those.” When Jesus looks at my life I wanted Him to say that I am unique, and that there is no one like me. I know that it is true that each one of us are unique to him simply because we are in Christ. Because I am in Christ, I am his favorite. That is true about each one of you, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. There’s a place in the book of Joel where it talks about God being zealous for his people. It’s one thing for God to be jealous over us, which of course is true, because he wants us to love him with all of our heart, but it is another thing for God to be zealous over our lives. For God to be zealous over me, means that he is passionate and excited about the way I am living my life in Christ before him. Now I’m not saying that I want to be impressive in the eyes of man, though I always want to impress people, and impact and influence them with the life of Jesus, but what I am saying is that I want Him to be impressed, and impassioned with how far I go in loving Him, and manifesting my union with Christ. Each one of us as Christians are in Christ, and to abide in Christ is to be engaged in the heavenly dance of the bride and the bridegroom; but I don’t want to just know him dancing with me; I want to know that he’s dancing with joyful celebration over me, in light of my life lived, going for the horizons in Him. The word unique, is actually what the word holy means, and I don’t think that holiness primarily means sinlessness, instead, I believe the uniqueness that God is after in me is a unique passion, and commitment to advance as far and as fast as I possibly can in experiencing and manifesting Christ likeness in all of his splendor and fullness.
