Song 1:7 “Tell me, O you whom my soul loves,
Where do you pasture your flock,
Where do you make it lie down at noon?
For why should I be like one who veils herself
Beside the flocks of your companions?”
That first line in verse seven says something very powerful. Remember, this is still early in her journey to the heights, and yet she declares that He is the one whom her soul loves. The devil often accuses us of being hypocrites because we say that we love Jesus and yet our performance isn’t always as it should be. The truth is, Jesus considers our sincere, though weak love, as genuine, and it brings pleasure to His heart. We need to understand the true definition of a hypocrite so that the enemy can’t continue to pour condemnation and shame on us. A hypocrite is not someone who says one thing and yet doesn’t always behave accordingly. Instead, a hypocrite is one who says something and yet has no intention to behave accordingly. If you are longing to pursue His heart, and if you are intentionally reaching for a life of obedience, then you are not a hypocrite. God counts your love as real and genuine, and it brings Him pleasure. You have to remember, that God enjoys your sincere journey, with its ups and downs, (successes and failures) as you grow up in your love for Him. The accuser of the Brethren loves to come to us and whisper in our ear that we don’t have the right to say that we love God because sometimes we fail. Jesus loves you exactly where you’re at, and in that place of growing, imperfect, weak love, He wants you to love Him back, and He enjoys it when you do, and receives it as real love. It ravishes His heart. God’s love for you cannot and will not diminish no matter what you do, and His love for you cannot grow regardless of anything you do for Him. He simply loves you with an infinite and everlasting love, and every expression of your love, and any expression of your love, though inconsistent, delights His heart. Micah 7:18 is one of my favorite verses. The last part says “…He delights in unchanging love.” He absolutely delights in loving you, at all times. His love for you is never guarded, cautious, reluctant, of regretful. O how great a salvation.
