11 “Your lips, my bride, drip honey; Honey and milk are under your tongue, And the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.
In this verse He is affirming her faith and works as a victorious Lover. Milk and honey reminds us of the promised land of Canaan in the Old Testament. Of course, Canaan is a type of victorious living for the believer in the New Testament. It is experiencing and expressing the FULNESS of Jesus. It is normal Chistianity, as declared in Eph. 1:22-23. Canaan, to the Jew, was the place where the presence and power of God would be theirs intimately. It is where a land already conquered, in the will of God, would be their daily experience of victory, as they simply moved step by step in faith. God promised to fight all their battles for them, giving them rest on every side.
He is affirming her faith when He declares her lips were like honey, and that honey and milk (victory, and fullness) were under her tongue. Rom.10:8-9 says, ‘But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;’ 2 Cor.4:13 says, ‘But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I SPOKE,” we also believe, therefore we also speak,’
Faith isn’t just believing; even the demons do that, but faith is proclaiming, declaring, praising, confessing. Faith is always vocal. Heb.11:13 says, ‘All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.’
Faith sees, welcomes (embraces, and believes), and confesses the promises of God. He is the High Priest of our confession. Our confession of faith makes incarnational what we believe.
