S.S. 4:9 “You have made my heart beat faster, my sister, my bride; You have made my heart beat faster with a single glance of your eyes, With a single strand of your necklace. 10 “How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, And the fragrance of your oils Than all kinds of spices!
I want to look at these two verses one more time with wonder, astonishment, and worship in our hearts. Oh, how He treasures our love offered back to Him in presence, affection, adoration, and the obedience of faith. The first commandment given to us to love Him, is His first desire and pursuit. He so glories in our love, even though our love is offered through our weak humanity. The Christian Life is a mutual pursuit of hearts that always begins with His exposed heart, and His reckless pursuit of ours. Our love for Him is so treasured by Him that a single glance of adoration, and a single act of obedience ravishes Him. How transparent He is in affection for us. Aren’t you glad that God isn’t concerned about playing it “cool” when speaking of how much we mean to Him. He humiliated Himself intentionally at the Cross by being crucified in total transparency; so the whole world would know how much He loves us, and He cried out “I Thirst,” so we would know how He longs for us to receive His love, and to love Him.
If we could just stop living small stories, that are full of guilt and frustration, and get on with the Big Story of being loved and loving. He makes it so easy; “glances, and strands.”
