One Thing 713/15

S.S. 4:9, “For you reach into my heart.  With one flash of your eyes I am undone by your love,  My beloved one, my sister, my bride.  You leave me breathless; I am overcome by merely a glance from your worshiping eyes, and you have stolen my heart. I’m held hostage by your love, and your smallest expressions of surrender and heart obedience ravish my heart again and again.”

We rest in the fact that God loves us relentlessly and without pause. Yet, in response to his great love we often love Him back inconsistently. In light of our often unfaithful response, you would think that He would stay frustrated and disappointed in us, but amazingly, that is not true. Instead, one moment of devotion; one look of affection; one act of obedience offered to God out of love, from an abandoned life, ravishes His heart. It’s unimaginable that anyone could love someone that much that something so small would mean so much to them. But that is how He loves us. He even go so far as to say about us, who are pursuing His heart, and a life of abandonment to His will, as “altogether beautiful, without blemish.”
