Song 1:6 “Do not stare at me because I am swarthy,
For the sun has burned me.
My mother’s sons were angry with me;
They made me caretaker of the vineyards,
But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.
In Ruth chapter 2 we find Ruth meeting Boaz for the first time. Naomi and Ruth were very poor, and Naomi suggested to Ruth, who wanted to go out into the fields to glean, that she should go into the fields Boaz who was a kinsman. After Boaz met Ruth gleaning in the fields, he invited her to dine with him and the reapers at the midday meal. It says in verse 14 in chapter 2 that Ruth ate with Boaz and the reapers until she was satisfied and she had some leftover. At the end of the day she went back home, and it says in verse 18 that she gave to Naomi the food that was left after she was satisfied. She feasted in the presence of Boaz until she was satisfied, and then she was able to give to Naomi the extra (the overflow) that she brought home. This is the principle of anointed ministry, and the theme of S.S. 1:6. Having our hearts satisfied by our Boaz, we’re able to give the overflow of what we’ve experienced of Him to others. Remember the two sisters Martha and Mary. Martha’s priority was to serve him, but Mary’s priority was to abide in His presence and behold Him, and hear His voice. Jesus loved them both the same. The early part of John 12 makes it very clear, but it was Mary that Jesus specifically responded to when He raised Lazarus from the dead, and it was Mary that Jesus appeared to first in His resurrection. You see, according to Luke 10, Mary had chosen the good part. His presence and her heart relationship with him was the priority of her life. Extravagant Intimacy always gives birth to Anointed Ministry. He is looking for lovers not servers, but in the end it’s the lovers who become the most powerful servers, because they’re doing it for love. The Lord wants our vineyard, our heart relationship with him, to be so healthy that our hearts overflow with the good theme of His Love and His Likeness .
