Acts 1:21-22 NASB
[21] Therefore it is necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us- [22] beginning with the baptism of John until the day that He was taken up from us-one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
Nothing has changed in 2000 years in terms of the kind of people that the church needs to raise up to impact the world. The qualifications for filling the place of Judas among the apostles was very simple. They were looking for someone who had spent a lot of time with Jesus, and who could bear witness of His resurrection. This is exactly what we need today.
God is looking to raise up people who have spent a lot of time hanging out with Jesus, and who can personally, that is from personal experience, be a witness of the fact that Jesus is literally risen from the dead, and still at work on the earth. Every genuine Christian is in union with the indwelling resurrected Christ, but sadly so few Christians have experienced the reality, and the power of His resurrection in and through their lives.
We live in a time where people can’t be convinced of Christianity through arguments and apologetics. Instead, they need to encounter people who really know Jesus, because they have spent quality time with Him, and are manifesting His resurrection life in power.
