Galatians 4:7 AMP
Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then also an heir through [the gracious act of] God [through Christ].
Galatians 4:7 TPT
Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters! And because we’re his, we can access everything our Father has—for we are heirs of God through Jesus, the Messiah!
To be the sole heir means that everything is yours by birthright, not as a wage. Jesus is the sole heir of everything that belonged to the Father, for He said in John 16 that everything the Father had belonged to Him. He then also said that everything that belonged to Him (which is everything that the Father has) belongs to us. If you go back and read John 14 – 15, you’ll discover that our privileged position of possessing everything that Jesus has is because of our union with Him. We are one with Him, and therefore what’s His is ours, not because of our performance, but because of our position in Him. This is why Romans 8 says that we are co-heirs with Christ. Think about that for a moment, just because you are born again in Christ, everything that He has, you have, and everything that the Father has, He has, which means everything that the Father has, you have. Because you were included in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, you have clothed yourself with Christ, and the Father sees you in Him and treats you as it were, as if you were Him. Sadly, so many Christians spend their Christian life, begging God to bless them with things that they already inherited in Christ. The unsearchable riches of Jesus or yours by birthright, and there is nothing you can do to get more. Instead of begging God for more, maybe it would serve us well to begin a passionate search of all that is ours as heirs of God so that by faith, we can start drawing from our limitless inheritance in Christ.
