4 “Draw me after you and let us run together!
The king has brought me into his chambers.”
“We will rejoice in you and be glad;
We will extol your love more than wine.
Rightly do they love you.”
It’s in those moments when it feels like He is all you’ve got, that you rediscover that He is all you need. Everything else is extra. As He becomes the love of your life, His burning eyes become a consuming fire that cause you to be a Wasted Worshipper (Lover, Adorer), and a Wasted Witness, constantly bearing witness that His love is better than wine. It is difficult for a rejoicing and extolling heart to fall into despair and discouragement.
Ex. 33:15 Then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here.
When The Lord told Moses (because God was grieved with the people) that He would let an Angel take them into the promise land, but that He personally wouldn’t go with them, Mose responded by saying that they wouldn’t go without God’s presence. He went on to say that if God’s presence wasn’t with them then they would be like all the other people on the Earth. It was God’s presence that made them distinct and special. It was His fellowship that gave the people purpose and identity. He is the Pearl of Great Price. He makes Heaven, Heaven, and His presence and affection make Earth Heaven. There surely will be times when you will feel so alone and abandoned in this fallen world. May in those dark moments you find light in His light. May then, you remember that you have Him and His burning love, and in that realization you’ll rediscover that you have everything, and in that actualization you’ll rise up as an Overwhelming Conquerer, wasted and lovesick.
