And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace John 1:16
I’ve been on a little mini vacation at the beach. I love the sight and the sound of the waves as they relentlessly roll in. They remind me of this verse and what it says about the grace of God. Everything about our relationship with God is about His relentless grace that continually rolls in and over our lives. It is unstoppable, and irresistible.
First, His love for us is relentless, and there is nothing that can stop its powerful force and presence in our lives; including our own behavior.
Rom. 8:38 For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers,
Rom. 8:39 Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This is the foundation that everything in our Christian lives are built on. We may grieve His heart, and even provoke Him to discipline, but He never, ever stops relentlessly, and delightfully loving us.
Second, His life flow in us, and His divine activity through us is also relentless. The life of Christ, and His limitless ability, as a great gift of grace, is forever there like an unstoppable, overwhelming force, prepared to be released in all of our circumstances, as we simply trust Him for every step of our lives.
Finally, when we do fail, His relentless grace is always there, prepared to roll over us in forgiveness and restoration.
Like the waves, His grace upon grace, upon grace, upon grace, upon grace, etc., relentlessly defines our redemption. It can’t be end, and it can’t be resisted.
