S.S.4:4 “Your neck is like the tower of David,
Built with rows of stones
On which are hung a thousand shields,
All the round shields of the mighty men.
27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. 28 You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. 30 I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me; 31 but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here.
In this part of John 14 Jesus is preparing His disciples for His death, and the evil activity (motivated by Satan) of fallen men that will be directed toward Him. In the process of preparing them He wanted them to know that no matter what they were going to see, Satan had no part in Him. Even though He was going to be under attack, He wanted them to know the peace He was walking in, and He, in His humanity, walked in supernatural prace during this fierce battle because Satan, though attacking Him on the outside, would have no victory over Jesus on the inside because Jesus’ will was totally yielded to His Father.
Remember, the neck in the Song of Solomon speaks of the will. A will totally yielded in faith is our greatest protection in times of battle. We can’t stop the days of trouble from coming, and the conflict from raging on the outside all around us, but we can walk in total victory on the inside, experiencing the peace of Jesus, as we stay completely surrendered. In our every YES to Him, He will fill tenant moment with His presence, pleasure, and power. It’s the meek that win.
