One Thing 6/2/15

Acts 1:4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me;

Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
Notice that the expectation that these gathered would be witnesses was preceded with a promise. It’s always like that in the Christian life. Everything always stars with promise, not demand or expectation.  That’s why we are told that “The commandments of God are not burdensome.” Everything that God expects from from us, He has already provided for us in Christ. Whatever situation you find yourself in, whether planned, or unexpected, it is vital for you to know that His Suffient grace to deal with it is already promised ( actually already deposited in you) you in Jesus. That seems to be backwards from the way religion works but it makes such sense. God never requires of you what He hasn’t already promised to do through, and for you. All you have to do is show up in faith for life. That is in every step of life, because of the pre-promise of His adequacy and victory, you can “Bless The Lord at all times,” because nothing is too difficult for Him, even if it FEELS overwhelming to you. Dare to rejoice always, because He is always faithful, who has promised. “…and being fully assured that what He has promised, He was able also to perform.”
