One Thing 6/14/17

Phil. 2:14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing; 15  so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,
Ps. 106:24, Then they despised the pleasant land;
They did not believe in His word,
25 But grumbled in their tents;
They did not listen to the voice of the LORD.

In Philippians 2 having admonished us to work out our own salvation in fear and trembling, in light of the fact that he’s working in us to both will and to work for His good pleasure; he instructs us to do all things without grumbling or complaining. We live in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation (that is so radically obvious in the days we live), and we are called to be as lights in the world. Nothing diminishes our shinning more than when we grumble and complain. Of all people on the earth we should be the most extravagantly thankful! At the darkest times the light of our lives should be the most obvious and the most influential. At the core of a life filled with unbelief and self will is the life of perpetual grumbling and complaining you. As a matter of fact, Psalm 106 says if we are grumbling in our tents (life situations) it is proof that we are not listening to the voice of the Lord. In other words, grumbling and complaining is proof that we’ve learned to listen to the voice of the devil.
Remember that, the next time you find yourself grumbling and complaining in your tent; that what’s going on inside of you is not a monologue with your own thoughts, but instead it is a dialogue with the voice of the enemy.
