One Thing 6/9/20 Confidence in the Father’s presence

Ephesians 2:13-18; 3:11-12 NASB

But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. [14] For He Himself is our peace, who made both one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, [15] by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into  one new man, thus establishing peace, [16] and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. [17] AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR; [18] for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, [12] in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith His faith.

We have confident access to the Father because we are in Christ, and the Father could no more reject us than he could reject Jesus. There is “one new man,” and that new man is Jesus Himself in union with redeemed humanity, and because of that union, we can know the same peace and intimacy with the Father that Jesus knows. We don’t have to fear condemnation or rejection; instead, we can approach the Father in the boldness and confidence that Jesus has in that relationship. How much faith does Jesus have in the acceptance and affection of the Father? Because we are in Christ, we can approach the Father’s presence in intimacy and prayer in the faith of Jesus. There is no enmity between the Father and us any more than there is any adversity between the Heavenly Father and Jesus.

One of the great wonders of our union with Christ is that we get to participate in His relationship with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and it is not based on our performance, but purely on who Jesus is. Transformation into the discovery of our new identity in Christ is what happens in the Father’s presence; never condemnation, for there, is now, therefore, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Never allow guilt or shame to rob you from accessing intimate fellowship with the God, because that is one of the great deceptions of the evil one to keep you from experiencing the transformative love and grace that The Presence brings. God, the Father is at peace with you as much as He is with His Son Jesus because when you approach the Father, you approach Him in Jesus, who is our peace with God.
