The other day Jesus said in me – to me, “I want you to join me in only thinking the best about everybody all of the time.” That resonated with me because 1 Corinthians 13 says, “Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous; …love is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things….”
Love only believes the best about everybody at all times, especially when we see their flaws. It was so liberating for Jesus to say that to me. It was so incredibly liberating for Him to invite me to participate in His nature and attributes in that area.
I’ve had times when I was a little afraid to talk to people about something in their life because I was afraid that I would hurt them and they would stop thinking I was wonderful. But recently, when that happened, in the end, I was able to talk to a person with tenderness and hope because perfect love casts out fear. When you love someone from the perfect love of Jesus, you are free to speak a word of admonition because you are speaking from a place that believes the best about them. Fearing rejection is no longer the issue because, being controlled by the love of Christ, you are no longer concerned about whether they think you’re wonderful. Your only concern is that they know how wonderful Jesus thinks they are and how much He believes in them.
