Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is always the same yesterday and today, and forever.
I was talking to a good friend today about how difficult change is, and yet in this temporal world, change of all kinds is inevitable. Everything is temporary. Paul even said in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” I think the best way to spell the Cross in our lives is C-H-A-N-G-E. Everybody in this world, whether Christian or not, lives in a constant environment of change. So many people have gotten off balance in the last 18 months or so because so much has changed in the world we live in, and people are afraid that things will never be the same again. The honest truth is, things will never be the same again, but the difference for the Christian is that Christ is our life, and for us to live is Christ, and He never changes. Paul said in Philippians 4, “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say rejoice.” Our ultimate object of rejoicing is the Lord, and He is always the same, yesterday and today, and forever. Christ is who we treasure the most, and that relationship is not vulnerable to moths or rust, or the choices of people, or even death. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I do know that I will still be in Christ, and therefore that which is most precious to me; that which is my greatest source of joy will still be intact. As long as He is the same, everything will be okay. Actually better than okay; it will be really good. Actually, it will be better than really good; it will be life and life more abundant. Change is inevitable, but my union with Christ is invincible.
