Yesterday we were looking at Heb.11:11 “By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised.” We discovered that at the heart of faith is our invoking the ability of God in every situation. What a remarkable adventure we can envision if we were to actually live that way. Imagine just one day, where you bring by faith, into every situation, the unlimited ability of God. What kind of day you would have. Think about a whole life lived that way. Let your imagination run wild. Isn’t that what Ephesians 3 says. He can do exceedingly, abundantly, beyond anything we could ever ask, or imagine.
If we are not careful, we can be threatened by faith. It seems as if we must learn the formula so we can get it right. It appears as if a few select people know how to do it, and they are the ones who have such great stories to tell. They have discovered the secret to doing faith right, and therefore God seems to move on their behalf in an extraordinary way. If we could only tap into that secret. Well the secret is no secret at all. Listen to Sarah. She considered Him faithful. That is the open secret. It isn’t faith in our faith. It isn’t a formula. It is simply trusting that the person of God will be faithful. Is He willing and able. That is all that matters. It isn’t about whether our faith is big enough. It is about whether He is big enough, and does He have enough integrity to keep his word. There it is. That is faith. Simply resting in His faithfulness. Have a great day, daring to live in light of His faithfulness.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.
Refrain
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
