Rom.12:1-2, “12 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
I love the fact that the Lord pleads for a total surrender from a place of His mercy and goodness; not from a place of reminding us of His greatness. His goodness and humility is like a revelational earthquake that changes our understanding of reality, from which all our choices emerge from.
Another thing that I want us to notice is that the appeal to radical surrender is not to first timers, who know nothing about Him, but to BRETHREN. That is such an encouraging word to me. Often the enemy will tell believers that you’ve been around awhile and you’ve missed your chance, and that your spiritual innocence has forever been lost, and that the radical life of surrender that goes deep into the will of God is not for you. This is an invitation to those who have been around; who may have thought their opportunity for an extravagant life in Christ has passed them by. Oh Brother and Sister shake off those accusing thoughts and hear the Holy Spirit appealing to you again, that this is your time.
