“He has brought me to His banqueting table, and His banner over me is love.”
The banqueting table is Christ Himself. He lays before us to enjoy everyday all that He is, all that He has, and all of His love. To feast on His presence, provision, and passion each day, and for all of eternity is our remarkable destiny. No wonder Col.2 says that we are complete in Christ. Resting at the banqueting table under the banner of love, (which alone identifies us, and qualifies us to be there) we find Christ daily, and completely sufficient, and endlessly satisfying. To live a hungry life is to live a satisfied life. The hunger; the desperation, in the hands of the Holy Spirit, becomes our escort into the deep things of God available at the banqueting, and it brings Jesus such joy to find us feasting freely on all that He paid such an enormous price. Thank God for Eucharist, for at every Eucharistic meal we experience the reality of all of this dramatized, and materialized before us.
