One Thing 5/21/20 The ascension is the completion of the resurrection

The ascension is the completion of the resurrection- they are inseparable.  And it is the 3rd piece of the finished work of Christ, which is consummated at Pentecost.

When contemplating the ascension, we have to gaze toward and from the the throne of Christ. The resurrection of Jesus, which includes His ascension into Heaven, was the birthing of a whole new humanity, and the inauguration of a whole new age and whole new world under the reign of King Jesus. The kingdom of God, the reign of God on earth as in heaven, has been effected through the God-man Jesus, and it is our calling, as those in union with Christ, to go forth implementing the reign of heaven on earth.

One of the glorious mysteries of the gospel is that not only does Jesus reign from Heavens throne, we are in Him, seated in the heavenlies, called to reign in life on this earth because of our union with the risen and ascended life of Christ. Jesus lives in us to live His ascended, heavenly life through us in power and authority. The Ascension means we can see Him on the throne reigning no matter what this fallen world screams, but it also means we can we can see from Him and His reign over every situation, relationship, and temptation that touches our lives.

Ephesians 1:18-23 NASB
[18] I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, [19] and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might [20] which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, [21] far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. [22] And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, [23] which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Notice those last two verses. The Father put ALL THINGS under the feet of Jesus, and GAVE HIM as the one who is HEAD OVER ALL THINGS to the Church which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

If it’s under His feet, then it is under your feet, because the Father gave Him in all of His fullness to us His body. Actually, as His body, the Lord Jesus who reigns over all, wasn’t just given to us; He lives in us, everyone of us, and we carry His fullness of resurrection power and throne room authority into every situation.
