1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Rom. 6 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
Easter is all about hope. A hope that’s lived out everyday. As Christians we all know that we have a certain hope in Christ at our death, because of the Resurrection, but sadly, what many Christians don’t seem to experience is a “living hope” everyday because of the resurrection. When Jesus died on the Cross, He didn’t just die for me, He died as me. He took me into His person to the place of execution, and there In Him ,my sins were paid for. I was crucified in Him; with Him. He also took me, the person I once was, to the grave, and that old self was buried, but the story doesn’t end there. When He rose from the dead, I was in Him also, and I share His resurrection life and power. That’s what makes me a New Creation. That’s what gives me newness of life. He didn’t just take something away from me; sins guilt, He also put something in me that makes me a whole new Born Again person; His very resurrected life. That’s why I have a living hope. The word “hope” doesn’t mean to wish for something; it means to have a confident expectation. If the Jesus that lives in me conquered death, then I can live everyday, facing every situation and temptation, confident that He will be BIG ENOUGH for it. The Resurrection is not just historical, or about our future, it is personal and the most practical reality in our lives. It gives us hope; not just for some day down the road, but everyday, in the nitty gritty details of life.
