John 14:29 “Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe.
John 14:30 “I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;
John 14:31 but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here.
I asked The Lord to define The Cross to me again; to speak a fresh word to to me. He said, “Love.” He said the story of The Cross is the story of love. The love of God for the world; the love of Christ for His Bide, and in these verse, the love of Jesus for His Father. At The Cross we have loves great exclamation as God surrendered His Son’s very life for us. He showed how far love will go. He “SO LOVED,” that He gave what He couldn’t afford to give. Jesus revealed the true heart of a Bridegroom, giving Himself up for His Bride. Take a look at how Jesus loved His father, and thus what God is looking for from us in reciprocal love back to Him. Jesus is telling His disciples that He is letting them in on what is about to take place so they will not be taken by surprise. He tells them that the worst of Satan’s hatred is about to be released, and men will be driven by the Evil One to horrific things. Jesus then tells them that even though evil will be unleashed at Him, the Devil will have no part in Him. He says that what will happen in the next 24 hours won’t be the Devil’s story, but it will be a “love story.” Jesus told them that He was going to The Cross because it was the Fathers will for Him to do so, and through His surrendered act the whole would know how much He loved God The Father. Wow! You see Jesus had told them, “If you love Me you will keep my commandments.” He was modeling that to them. The Cross is a LOVE STORY. This is what The Cross longs to extract from us; a responsive love that is so consuming that we will live our lives in such absolute, extravagant, obedience that the whole world will see how much we love Jesus. How worthy He is. May The Cross become your Love Story this Good Friday. Live, giving what your flesh tells you what you can’t afford to give, for love.
