2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NASB
[9] And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. [10] Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
Notice that verse 9 doesn’t promise that God’s grace will be sufficient; instead, it says that His grace IS SUFFICIENT. There is a difference between a promise and a fact; for a promise says something will be so, but a fact says that it already is so, and you must not turn God’s facts into promises. When something is a fact, you can go ahead and celebrates its now reality, instead of believing for a coming reality. The abiding life at its heart, is a life of faith that “trusts that He is,” and not a faith that believes that He can, or prays that He will.
Let’s take a look at a verse that the great Evan Hopkins called the “gospel within the gospel.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 NASB
[8] And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
Grammatically, that verse could be better translated, “and the God of limitless supernatural ability, has already abounded ALL grace to you, that you ALWAYS, in the present moment, already have ALL sufficiency in ALL situations, may have EXCESSIVE grace for every task at hand.”
Whatever God wants out of us, He has already put into us. Therefore, God doesn’t think anything that he asks of us is unreasonable.
When facing situations or temptation, you never need to ask for grace, or hope that there will be grace for victory, because the grace is already yours in Christ; so just TAKE, and say THANK YOU, and watch Him manifest His adequacy. WHAT WE TAKE (by faith), HE UNDERTAKES.
