One Thing 4/26/21 Growing up into Jesus – How does true Christian growth happen

Ephesians 4:13,15 NASB95

until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. [15] but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all ways into Him who is the head, even Christ,

Holy living is neither the realization of some ideal self that you have imagined in your mind nor is it the imitation of some real Christian hero. Philippians 1 says, “For me to live is Christ,” therefore holy living is to live from Christ or by Christ. Christianity is not some kind of spiritualized behavioral modification program. Instead, Christianity and Christian growth are a “growing up INTO HIM in all things,” which results in a spiritual maturity that realizes and reveals “the fullness of Christ.” Verse 15 does not say that we grow up for Christ, or that we grow up spiritually with Christ’s help. It says that we grow up “into Him.” Growing up into Him in all things is to have your mind so renewed that you become diligent to live from Christ in all the things that make up your daily life, both big and small with the intention of manifesting His fullness (not just improvement in areas of your life) in every area of your life. This is is holy living. It’s not something you can learn from a manual. It’s organic and dynamic. Growing up as a Christian is growing up into Jesus.
