Look! Here he comes,
leaping across the mountains,
bounding over the hills.
9My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag.
Hab. 3:19
The Lord God is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army];
He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet
And makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my [e]high places [of challenge and responsibility].
High places in Scripture can speak of two different things. One, they can speak of the high places of God; that is those spiritual heights that God calls us to and all of us long to walk in. The other thing that high places can speak of our places of difficulties, struggles, and spiritual battles. I wanted you to see that in the song of Solomon the beloved (who is Jesus) is likened to a gazelle or a young stag leaping across the mountains, and bounding over the hills. Jesus has Hinds feet to navigate high places, whether they are the heights of God, or the battles that we face every day in this fallen world. Sometimes high places can be both and, because as we navigate the high places in God, often the enemy will blow back to try to sabotage what we are going after in God. The bottom line is, whether the high places are battles in this fallen world, or extravagant discoveries in the kingdom, we are equipped in Christ to navigate them. If you find yourself in a situation where God is stretching you to risk all in your obedience to him in a new way, then simply thank Jesus that because you are in Christ you have his Hinds feet to navigate these high places that you’ve never gone to before; and if you find yourself in difficult circumstances, that are difficult to navigate, then again thank Jesus that you have his Hinds feet to navigate this particular battle, and these particular circumstances. You have been equipped for everything God has called you to, and you have been equipped to deal with anything the enemy throws at you. In Christ you have his Hinds feet for all the high places.
