I’m at Heathrow airport in London on the way back from Africa. Most of the trip it has been impossible to get internet that would work.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of God”
In the West we have so many material distractions, but in places like Africa the Kingdom is their only hope. Their desperation for God, and their utter dependence on Him radically attracts His supernatural activity on their behalf. They have no back up plan. God is their only hope, and their childlike faith stays wide open to the things of the Spirit. Even in their deep poverty, and maybe because of it, they have much more to offer the West, than we have to offer them. Of course they have nothing of material value to give us, but their faith and desperation has great eternal value. In some strange way, we are much more impoverished than they are. My prayer is that the wealthy poor would see their desperate condition before God, and begin to cry out for Him. That is the hope of our nation, and all of western culture. God longs to be wanted and needed. God comes in the power of revival to those who need Him, and want Him above all things else.
