One Thing 4/14/20 Born from above into a living hope 2

1 Peter 1:3 NASB

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born from above into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

The NASB Bible actually translates this verse, “has caused us to be born again to a living hope,” but the proper translation is what I have written above which says,” has caused us to be born from above INTO a living hope.” Because of our union with the risen Christ we are born from above, and that is why we are able to be seated in Christ in the heavenly places. John 3:31 says, “He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. What He has seen and heard, of that He bears witness…” That verse in John is of course speaking of Christ, but because we are now in union with the resurrected Jesus, the same can be true about us, in Him. Being Born from above through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, we are above all. We are heavenly, as a result of our union with the resurrected Christ, and therefore it can also be said about us, that we who come from heaven are above all. There is no temptation or situation that we should ever be intimidated by as a believer because we are born from above INTO a living hope. Stupid mistakes Jesus’s resurrection from the dead is our resurrection from the dead. We will experience bodily resurrection one day, but in Christ at his resurrection we already experienced spiritual and moral resurrection, and from that place of union with the risen victorious Jesus we can splash around in the hope (the confident expectation of victory) that we have been placed into. That little preposition “into” is so important, because it means more than just having something; it means I have been plunged into something, and therefore to not experience it, I have to fight my way through hope just to be pessimistic and negative. I am only a new creation because I am in union with the resurrected Jesus, and because of that union I have been placed into His perspective, or mind, about all things, and that John passage says that Jesus bore witness of what he saw and heard from heavens hope filled mindset. The mind of Christ is hope filled, because he who comes from above is above all, and therefore since the risen Christ is my life, I get to see everything, and bear witness concerning everything from heavens victorious worldview. There is no temptation that you and I will ever face that we aren’t above, because Christ is above, and there is no situation that we will ever have to deal with that we aren’t above it, because Christ is above it, and we are one with Him. Born from above into a living hope through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. Alleluia, Christ is risen!!
