One Thing 3/7/15

Song 3:11 “Go forth, O daughters of Zion,
And gaze on King Solomon with the crown
With which his mother has crowned him
On the day of his wedding,
And on the day of his gladness of heart.”

Song 4:1  “How beautiful you are, my darling,
How beautiful you are!
Your eyes are like doves behind your veil;
Your hair is like a flock of goats

That have descended from Mount Gilead.

Having referred to our Heavenly Wedding as “the day of the gladness of heart,” our Bidegroom King proceeds to to declare how much He cherishes us. Twelve different times in this Song of the Lamb, He tells us how beautiful we are to Him. Let me remind you of how strong His emotions are toward us. The phrase “How beautiful you are, my darling,” is repeated as a point emphasis. The exclamation mark at the end of the sentence tells us it’s a declarative statement. In other words, there is nothing casual about these words. Our Bidegroom King has eyes of fire, and His love for us is an all consuming fire. He doesn’t feel stuck with you. Instead, He greatly delights in you, even though you are imperfect in your walk. He sees His imperfect Bride with “the eyes of the Beholder.” As a matter of fact, the proper translation of this sentence is something like this; “Lo! Behold! Wow! you are beautiful My love, My eternal companion!!!” This is the biblical truth of how He feels about you. We waste so much energy living a rejected life, convinced that He feels about us the way we feel about ourselves, in light of our weakness and failures. The truth is, if you felt about you the way He does, you would love yourself fiercely, and relentlessly. As the perfect Bridegroom, He heals our broken, fallen self image by cherishing us with a relentless God Sized Cherishing. I pray you feel cherished today, because you are.
