Song 3:10 “He made its posts of silver,
Its back of gold
And its seat of purple fabric,
With its interior lovingly fitted out
For the daughters of Jerusalem.
John 14:2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
All that is ours in Christ is ours simply because He so loves us. The silver, which speaks of our redemption; the gold, which speaks of all the resources of His divine life in us, and the purple seat that speaks of our place of rest and authority seated in the Heavenly Places in Him; all ours because of extravagant love. Before He ever called us to waste our life in love for Him, His heart was already wasted, in love for you and me. The Cross, Death, Burial, and Resurrection, all happened because of His wasted heart. That He would go through all of that so He could come and place us in Christ, so that He could escort us safely through the wilderness of this fallen world, to bring us to our wedding, makes every love story ever told or imagined seem petty, and irrelevant. In that John passage He promised them they would be with Him. He couldn’t bear being without them. He loves us too much. This is why we can rest in His Sedan Chair. Anyone who loves us that much can be trusted, celebrated, adored. “O how great a salvation.” In Christ, He has done it all. He has taken care of everything. Your place in Christ has been fitted out by love, perfectly, just for you.
