One Thing 2/15/14

2Th. 3:16 ¶ Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!

This is an amazing verse that carries a stunning promise. Just imagine experiencing, always, peace in every circumstance. Have you ever even experienced continual peace in every single circumstance for just one day? This isn’t just a verse to be memorized, so that we can pull it out during tough times; it is an offer to be realized. Notice a few things. Peace has it’s source in a person, and that person is Jesus. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” He is The Lord of Peace. He possesses it in His person, and He grants it to us. He shares His peace as a gift. It simply comes with presence. In simple terms, as we cultivate His presence as our very life, the peace that He carries at all times, becomes our greatest reality. If I’m walking in union with Him, conscious of, and drawing from His presence, then I can rest in the fact that He who is with me and in me is at peace in every circumstance we face together. You do realize don’t you that in every circumstance you face He is there, living His life through you, and He is at total peace continually? He is never worried, fearful, anxious, or stressed, and in total control, and is more than big enough for the task, or situation at hand. The last sentence in this verse says it all. The Lord be with you. It isn’t just a greeting, or spiritual sign off, it’s The Who that’s The How to The What. The what is the peace that is offered, and the how to experience it is a who whose presence is to be sought and hosted.
